New York, NY, March 10, 2025 - Today, Pomelo Care, the national leader in evidence-based maternity care, announced three executive team promotions. Shyamali Choudhury has been promoted to Chief Commercial Officer; Sarah Kramarz has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer; and Isabelle Von Kohorn MD PhD, has been promoted to Chief Medical Officer.

Shyamali Choudhury joined Pomelo as VP, Partnerships in July 2021 as one of the company’s first employees. Prior to Pomelo, Shyamali spent nearly six years leading new business initiatives at Flatiron Health and forging key partnerships to advance the company’s work reimagining cancer care. Shyamali began her career in public policy and global health, working in the Metropolitan Policy Program of The Brookings Institution and in Market Shaping at Results for Development.
Sarah Kramarz started at Pomelo in January 2022 as VP, Business Operations. Earlier in her career, she served as Case Team Leader at Bain & Company in both the Healthcare and Private Equity practices. Prior to Pomelo, Sarah spent over five years in Business Development at Flatiron Health, leading corporate development and strategic data partnerships designed to accelerate real-world oncology research.
Dr. Von Kohorn began at Pomelo in April 2021. Prior to Pomelo, she spent over eleven years at Holy Cross Health, a major community birth hospital affiliated with Children’s National Health Center. During her tenure, she served as Chief of Neonatology and Medical Director of the NICU. She also spent four years as Clinical Assistant Professor at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences Earlier in her career, Dr. Von Kohorn worked as Program Officer at the National Academy of Medicine, where she was part of the Roundtable on Value- and Science-Driven Healthcare. Dr. Von Kohorn completed a Clinical Fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine and her residency in Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, where she also served as Chief Resident. She received her AB in Public & International Affairs from Princeton University, MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and PhD from Yale University.
The promotions come after a significant year of growth for Pomelo. In June 2024, the company announced it had secured a $46 million Series B. In September, Pomelo acquired The Doula Network, the largest network of credentialed, in-network doulas in the United States. Then, in December 2024, the company released peer-reviewed data highlighting the significant impact of its virtual maternal health care model. Findings from four independent studies demonstrate that Pomelo's approach reduces total care costs in a Medicaid population, lowers NICU and ER utilization for both mothers and infants, and enhances follow-up care for depression.
